Abby Girl

We adopted a new baby girl - Abby. She's the sweetest girl ever. We weren't looking, (wanting but not looking) and our breeder told us they needed to adopt out Abby. She was going to be a show dog, but she has a limber tail. Which basically means the muscles and nerves don't work right to wag it. I can't really notice. She is a smooth coat, so that means nowhere near the amount of shedding, YEA!!! Not that it matters, we are constantly covered in hair, but it's a small relief. She is almost four months old and 50 lbs. She will be smaller than Maddox, only about 150 lbs. Valerie estimated that where Maddox is right now, he'll be between 170 and 190 lbs (another 20-40).

She has been an adventure already. She had an accident while we were stuck in SLC traffic. We stopped about 5 or 6 times during the trip back home to make sure that she didn't have another accident. She was getting into something and we realized it was Maddox's food (hiding it under a coat wasn't good enough). So I unbuckled my seatbelt and crawled in the back. We had some food from the breeder that I hand fed her. We brought up the single seat in the backseat (we normally have all of them down) so that I could lay next to her, make sure she doesn't pee again, and protect her from her big brother Maddox who wasn't very careful of his foot placement. He tried to sit on her once. Harrison was jealous, so he got to go sit in the front seat where Tyler could pet him occasionally while driving.

When we got home, Maddox and Abby ran around outside for almost two hours. They were so cute together. Abby LOVES Harrison. She chases him around. Harrison doesn't like it and runs from hiding place to hiding place. Abby chases after him, and Maddox chases after her.

We were exhausted from a 11 hour drive, 3 hours at the Breeders house, and not much sleep the night before. Abby, however, had played all morning and slept the 6 hour drive home. (It's' normally 5, but with that many stops the time goes up.) We let her play as long as possibly could keep our eyes open, and put her in the crate. She cried and barked and whined some more. I honestly think it was 20 minutes or more. We were so tired we fell asleep while she was still crying. I know puppies cry when they switch homes, but it was ridiculous. I'm really hoping she'll do better tonight. I also hope that she was crying because she wanted to play, not because she was scared and homesick.

Today, she has been playing after playing. We are trying to remember how to raise a puppy again, but the accident clean up is coming right back. I'm crossing my fingers she learns potty training real quick.

Abby is our cuddly, drooly, sweet baby girl.
